She went on to attend her first National Convention in Wisconsin. It was there she learned of the importance of AMTA. As the concerns of members were being voiced regarding education and licensing practices, public perception of the trade in the past and going forward, regulations that would both protect us as massage therapists and our clients as recipients of competent service, AMTA was listening. Yathyra became a volunteer in order to learn and share experiences with fellow therapists. She feels passionate about massage therapy in that it is not merely a luxury to be afforded only by an elite few. Massage therapy is more than that. Massage is a medical modality and with proper education of both practitioner and recipient, true healing and or pain relief can occur. Massage therapy should be accessible to all humanity. When she is not volunteering or working with clients, she can be found doing Yoga or Gardening, or cooking. She especially loves to spend time with her kids all of whom she is very proud of.
